Summer employees gain new experiences at Koskisen

We have once again welcomed a group of great seasonal workers to join us in a range of roles. Read on to learn more about Oona Sunnari, Vilja Vanonen and Tuomo Laaksonen, who are working at Koskisen this summer. Summer workers like Oona, Vilja and Tuomo are an important resource for us; without them, we couldn’t keep our production lines operating during the summer holiday season. Moreover, we need plenty of Fire Watchers to keep an eye on hot work due to the renovations being done over the summer.

We want everyone to have a great summer job experience

Koskisen Oy participates in the Responsible Summer Job campaign (Vastuullinen kesäduuni), which was launched to encourage employers to offer more and better summer jobs to adolescents and young adults.

As a responsible employer and campaign participant, we are committed to the six principles of a great summer job, which help us ensure a great summer job experience for both the workers and the employer. The six principles are:

• a good application experience
• meaningful work
• introduction and guidance
• fairness and equality
• reasonable pay
• written contract and testimonial

    Oona Sunnari

    Oona Sunnari

Who are you and where are you from?

My name is Oona Sunnari and I am 20 years old. I’m originally from Lahti and I am a second-year economics student at Aalto University working towards my Master of Business Administration degree. I’m staying in Lahti for the summer, and the rest of the year I live in Espoo.

    What does your role entail?

I mainly take care of invoicing for export and domestic sales and assist the financial administration team. This is my first business administration job, and before this I worked in customer service roles.

How did you feel about joining the Koskisen team?

It felt great! I was keen to see how things work in a large industrial company. Koskisen has different units, a lot of export activities and connections to several markets. It’s been interesting to see how all these work in practice.

What made you apply to Koskisen?

I started to look into summer jobs in the spring with a focus on production assistant roles. It was important for me to be able to commute easily from Lahti.

Do you have any expectations for your summer job?

At the very least I want to learn more about financial management. After this, I hope to have gained a better idea of how Koskisen works as a company and how its logistics and supply chains work.

Awesome! This is a great opportunity to gain work experience and to see how the mechanical forest industry works – especially at a time like this. I like my job a lot.

I expect to get to work in a nice and responsible role. The atmosphere is great and it’s always a pleasure to come to work.
