MODII modular interactive installation

MODII

Portal is an experimental interactive installation initiated by Delft University of Technology students by combining and integrating (new) technologies and materials. The installation completely relies on modern digital fabrication methods.

As its name suggests, the installation offers a playful interactive doorway,
housing ‘doorkeepers’ embodied by columns of electroluminescent wire.
On approach, these columns will try and invite visitors in blinking,
twisting, evoking curiosity amongst them. From there on visitors
themselves pull the strings literally. Visitors actively influence
the behaviour of the columns as they crouch their way through the
portal.

The structure itself is an example of parametric, non-standard Architecture built up entirely from individual Cones each having its unique size. The Cones are frames over which a so called “skin” is wrapped around. For the skin they have chosen our KoskiFlex in 01mm size 1450x1550 quality AB/C.
Each Cone will be covered with a reflecting panel resulting in a total reflecting surface in perfect contrast to the Birch. Our KoskiFlex is a fine example of excellent material of the highest quality standing and perceived as a strong brand in the market.
Our KoskiFlex will literally be the eye catcher of this masterpiece.
